so, from all this reading, ive gathered that i can drop a 5.0 (302) from a 96-01 explorer into my 01 ranger as long as all the smog equipment is intact? but i would have to go the EFI route instead of carb?

true but it has to be truck to truck and if i read it right myself dont the motor have to be from same year model or newer too ?

i dont think the truck to truck part will be a problem, cuz if i read what jgold wrote on page 1 then it shouldnt be a problem if both the donor and my truck are < 6000lbs. and my truck is a 2001, and the 5.0s came in explorers up to 2001 so that shouldnt be a problem either

i guess as long as its under the weight and is same year or newer u should be ok, but i bet the ref will want papers from the donar vehicle/motor

from what i read, the swap itself is pretty easy. the ref is gonna be the hardest part, lol
